
Governor confirms the name of "Geraldo Furlan" for the Limeira viaduct

Law No. 18,087, of February 6, 2025, signed by Governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), which names the SPD 104/147 viaduct, located at km 104.680 of the Engenheiro João Tosello Highway, SP-147, in Limeira, “ Geraldo Furlan ”, was published in this Monday's edition (10/2) of the Official Gazette of the State of SP.
The law was also signed by Natália Resende Andrade Ávila, Secretary of Environment, Infrastructure and Logistics; Gilberto Kassab, Secretary of Government and Institutional Relations; and Arthur Luis Pinho de Lima, Chief Secretary of the Civil House.
The proposal by Congressman Paulo Correa Jr (PSD). The viaduct is located on a state highway, very close to the company that Mr. Geraldo founded, Máquinas Furlan. Part of the company's land was expropriated to build part of the viaduct's loop.
At the age of 18, Mr. Geraldo came to Limeira in search of new job opportunities and, most importantly, to fulfill his dream of becoming a lathe operator. After several attempts to find an opportunity, he started his first job, and from then on, he worked in several companies until he achieved his dream of becoming a lathe operator in a hat factory.
He then began working as a lathe operator in his backyard and formed a partnership to assemble electric motors. From that moment on, Mr. Geraldo managed to raise funds to set up his first mechanical company. After a lot of manual labor, mainly with mining machines, he bought two and a half acres and built 2,700 square meters, where the current headquarters of Máquinas Furlan would be, emphasizing that he would be a pioneer in installing a factory on the banks of the Engenheiro João Tosello Highway.
