2º Fórum Nacional sobre Corretivos de Solos: especialistas defendem maior uso de calcário

2nd National Forum on Soil Correctives: experts advocate greater use of limestone

Soil fertility experts believe that the doses of soil amendments applied in Brazil are below what is necessary. Data from the Brazilian Association of Limestone Producers (Abracal) estimate that the volume used in the country should be at least 30% higher.

The intensive use of Direct Planting in agriculture has changed soil characteristics, increasing the debate on the contradiction in dosages. The scenario was discussed at the 2nd National Forum on Soil Correctives, held on March 26.

At the event, Máquinas Furlan, one of the sponsoring companies, exhibited the MM150FB Hammer Mill, one of the most widely used types of equipment in the production of agricultural limestone, in addition to its broad portfolio and complete plant projects.

With more correctives, more abundant harvests

The Forum, held in Piracicaba (SP), highlighted two issues regarding soil fertility in Brazil. One of them is the need to review practices to achieve more adequate fertility, given that the main technique adopted in agriculture, Direct Planting, has already been used for 30 years.

During this period, the soil has changed and has been affected by issues such as climate change. Despite this, the recommendations for the dosage of correctives, such as limestone, have changed little, according to the experts present at the event.

Experiments using larger quantities of these correctives have yielded better results in terms of productivity. In periods of unstable commodity prices, plentiful harvests in the same planted area bring profitability and reduced operating costs for farmers.

In general, the soil in Brazil has acidic characteristics, with a high concentration of aluminum. At least two consequences arise in this scenario:

- low soil fertility;

- reduced reserves of Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium and also low exchange of CTC cations.

The application of cationic elements in the soil becomes crucial. Examples include calcite and dolomite, which have positive charges through calcium and magnesium.

One of the important points when choosing the best type of limestone for a given area is the calculation of the Total Relative Neutralization Power (PRNT), which involves the variables of granulometry and concentration.

In terms of particle size, the quarry or mining company can use hammer or ball milling. If the aim is to improve the chemical characteristics, one option is to calcine the material, which will highlight the nutrients calcium and magnesium.

Furlan: the best choice in equipment or complete plant

Máquinas Furlan is aligned with these trends. The company has a complete line of calciners and mills. Check out the hammer mills page on our website here .

Furlan has emerged as one of the leading suppliers of mining equipment for the development of complete plants. In the case of limestone, Furlan's catalog includes jaw crushers, re-crushers and vibrating equipment - all of which are suitable for this type of project.

Thus, Furlan covers the entire process, from primary crushing to final limestone production. It also has unique expertise, thanks to its 63 years of experience in developing mining projects.

MM150FB: a robust and resistant mill

Exhibited at the Forum, the MM150FB Hammer Mill provides an efficient and robust solution for the generation of agricultural limestone and other fines, with advantages such as:

. High production – thanks to the enlarged grinding chamber, optimized configuration and high peripheral speed of the hammers.
. Larger material passage area, allowing a more efficient flow.
. Internal coatings with new metal alloys, ensuring greater resistance and durability.
. Single motor system with compensating flywheel, which provides amperage stability, continuous production and energy savings, in addition to simplifying the electrical circuit.
. Greater durability and use of hammers, due to the symmetrical configuration.
. Elastic coupling with adjustable rotation position, which allows faster changes of wear elements and provides safety.

. Hydraulic system for opening and closing the covers, making maintenance and changing hammers faster and safer.
