At 61 years old, Máquinas Furlan increases investments in productivity and durability

Máquinas Furlan is celebrating 61 years of activities this month . New investments in people and processes mark the date in the company , focusing on delivering products and services to customers that generate productivity.
Increasing the durability of mining equipment and wear parts is another objective. This action is part of another market trend, which is cost reduction – with fewer unscheduled downtimes at the mines.
This has strengthened the development of an internal culture focused on customer success. This has made Máquinas Furlan one of the leading companies in the supply of mining equipment, accessories and castings in Latin America.
The journey began in March 1962, with businessman Geraldo Furlan. A book was published to tell the story.
“Last year, we celebrated our 60th anniversary by highlighting work and resilience as principles so that we, with courage, can innovate daily and continue the legacy”, says Valter Zutin Furlan, CEO of the company and Geraldo’s son.
The principles that guided the company's six decades of operations are now being improved. Furlan is aligned with the trends in the mining industry, with practices such as increasing productivity and profitability of companies, preventive maintenance of equipment and safety in operations.
Wagner Zutin Furlan, also Geraldo's son and currently chairman of the Board of Directors of the company, sees in the company's founder a virtue that creates the foundation for new projects. "With the support of family and employees, my father surpassed his own limits. He led by example," recalls Wagner.
The Cone Crusher that produces 30% more
Customer relationships are also being improved as a function of the company's structure. Located in Limeira (SP), the Furlan industrial park occupies an area of 210 thousand m². The space concentrates operations that generate a complete solution for the customer, such as the production of more than 150 models of crushing, screening and grinding equipment used by mining companies.
The structure also allows for customized solutions, depending on the client's mining project. One of the most recent launches was the Furlan CC XT Cone Crusher line, which leaves the factory generating nearly 30% more productivity for customers.
Another highlight is the Castings area. The company has a collection of over 12,000 models of wear and repair parts. The area meets both international demands and the production of spare and wear parts for mining companies.
The structure allows Furlan to specialize in each stage of the production of a machine or worn part. The investments improve tasks such as steel manufacturing, heat treatment, machining, boilermaking and equipment assembly.
Hammers for Mills: a priority issue
Thus, we can easily answer one of the most asked questions by those who manage a mining company, when talking about parts: where to find hammers for mills of guaranteed quality?
This management format includes investments in people. Part of the team is being trained by the Dom Cabral Foundation, one of the world's leading business schools. This also improves the customer listening process, which is important for detecting market needs.
After all, this group of customers is essential for the country. Last year, despite market fluctuations, the mining industry's revenue was close to R$250 billion.
In taxes alone, the federal government collected R$86 billion from mining, according to the Brazilian Mining Institute (Ibram). The number of direct contracts reached 204,000, and an estimated 600,000 indirect contracts are expected.
Order in Advance: The Proper Setup
“If someone needs it, do it! We need to take care of the customer,” Geraldo Furlan used to say. These contacts gave rise to innovations such as “Order in Advance Furlan,” a program for replacing components for equipment that brings benefits to mining companies.
Furlan's 61 years of operations will bring new developments. Some of them will be presented at the Sales Meeting, which will take place this month at the company's headquarters. Representatives from all over the country will participate in the meeting.
We will soon present these new features here on the blog.
Geraldo's philosophy was also important during the country's economic crises. In 2016, after one of these crises, Máquinas Furlan filed for bankruptcy protection (RJ).
However, in September 2022, the Court approved Furlan's departure from RJ. "For us, leaving RJ is like a second anniversary. Now, we have a lot of work ahead of us," says Valter Furlan.
And this work includes customers, suppliers and employees, to whom Furlan is immensely grateful for reaching 61 years of activities. Together, let's help extract the best that the future has to offer, making this journey even more productive.
