Discover 3 types of installations for producing gravel and sand; construction market remains buoyant
Share
The consumption of aggregates for construction continues to rise. Two out of every three Brazilians will carry out some type of construction work in the next six months, using materials such as crushed stone, sand and gravel.
This opens up new business opportunities for the entire production chain in mining, quarries, mining and ceramics, among others. Those that already supply the construction sector can expand or improve their activities with fixed, semi-mobile or mobile projects and installations.
Companies must look for equipment and parts that are efficient and durable. Máquinas Furlan combines these characteristics, having developed different projects for the generation of aggregates.

What are construction aggregates?
Construction aggregates are typically used in infrastructure and building projects. Crushed stone, sand and gravel are among the most consumed aggregates in Brazil and worldwide.
These materials are mixed with others in the construction process to reduce costs – such as cement for making concrete. That is why we call them “aggregates”.
ANEPAC, an association that brings together businesspeople in the sector, says that the high consumption is explained by the lack of substitute materials at competitive prices. In 2021, in the association's latest survey, the country consumed 630 million tons of aggregates.
In general, for every 1,000 m² of construction work on buildings, there are 1,360 tons of aggregates, and another 70 tons for every 50 m² of construction of affordable housing. One kilometer of urban asphalt consumes 2,000 tons.
In Brazil, around 3,100 companies produce aggregates, according to ANEPAC.
The federal government recently announced that it will allocate R$1.7 trillion in the coming months to projects under the PAC program. Meanwhile, construction material prices continue to rise, even after the pandemic.
Two out of every three Brazilians have carried out some type of renovation at home or at work in the last 6 months, the same proportion as those who intend to make improvements in the coming months, according to a survey by the Casa do Construtor chain of stores.
What equipment is used in the production of construction aggregates?
The main ones equipment that integrates a plant for the production of gravel or sand they are:
. The vibrating line, such as feeders, chutes, grids and sieves;
. Crushers, usually conical and jaw;
. Impactors, such as VSI impact crushers;
. Belt conveyors;
. Control panels and tables;
. And, in some specific cases, the Aerodynamic Separator.
This equipment is presented on the Máquinas Furlan website here .
The most common aggregates for civil construction in the quarries served by Furlan are crushed stone 1, gravel, stone dust and crushed sand. However, a plant can go beyond aggregates, simultaneously generating materials for agribusiness, such as remineralizers and agricultural correctives.
Diversification is strategic for these companies. Managers know that depending on the results of just one segment of the economy is very risky.
What information should be considered when producing aggregates for construction?
Both for new installation projects and existing plants, it is necessary to know the production data , such as:
. Type of material to be crushed;
. Desired production;
. and Products generated from the installation.
As for the type of installation , there are 3 alternatives:
. it can be fixed, with equipment supported on concrete bases;
. Semi-mobile, with machines supported by metal structures;
. or mobile, when the equipment is on a road chassis.
On our YouTube page, videos present the projects developed by Furlan. One of them covers the complete plan, designed with the possibility of future expansion. Watch it.
Another strength of the Furlan team is the ability to improve existing facilities with customized projects, according to the needs of each client. The objectives of quarries and mining companies regarding crushing, grinding and screening are assessed based on what is available in the plant.
Watch the video, which presents the alternative gain in the existing industrial line from the operation of the Aerodynamic Separator.
The choice of Furlan Machines takes into account reliability and durability. Furlan equipment and parts are recognized in the market for their efficiency, productivity and low operating costs.
Maintenance is only necessary when scheduled, avoiding unexpected plant downtime. And quarries and mining companies that produce aggregates for construction know that their customers value meeting delivery deadlines.
So, the next step is to talk to your team and evaluate questions like:
. Is aggregate productivity satisfactory today?
. Is the aggregate being delivered to the customer within the granulometry specifications, or are we experiencing losses and rework?
. Can we generate a new end product, making the business more profitable?
