New housing improves JC 1300 jaw crusher
Share
The crusher casing plays a fundamental role in the crushing operation in mining. For this reason, Máquinas Furlan works to constantly improve casing designs.
In this post, we will talk about the new features of the JC 1300 jaw crusher casing, one of Furlan's most sought-after models by mining and quarrying companies. By focusing on reducing the weight of the part, the company has generated multiple benefits for its customers.
Check it out.
The benefits of a robust crusher casing
When we talk about mining equipment, it is important to mention the difficult working conditions in a quarry. In a crushing project, all components are important, but structural parts such as the front casing, rear casing, chin, bearings and shaft, among others, stand out.
The casing is included in the list because it is the main structure of the crusher, responsible for housing and protecting the other parts of the equipment. It is a part built with high-resistance materials to withstand the loads and stresses generated during the crushing process.
Its importance lies in its ability to withstand extreme loads and vibrations generated during the work process. A robust housing ensures the stability and durability of the equipment.
Designed to improve both mechanical strength and visual appeal, the part can offer benefits such as longer equipment life, reduced maintenance requirements and improved aesthetics that can reflect the quality and modernity of the mining operation.
What led Furlan to develop a project for the new body?

However, the Furlan team always seeks to improve the quality of its machines and parts. Therefore, the JC 1300 jaw crusher casing received a special look from its engineers.
In the previous project, the casing weighed more than the company's foundry's manufacturing capacity. Furlan always seeks the best service providers.
Bringing the production of the part to Furlan's own manufacturing plant offers many benefits. One of them is reducing the manufacturing time of the part. The equipment reaches the customer faster.
The Furlan team also took advantage of the internalization of the task to carry out simulations regarding the mechanical properties of the casing. Through the simulation, the engineers were able to reduce the weight and make the product more robust.
Four sectors of the company were directly involved in this project, which was developed over a period of 6 months. One of them is the New Products, Services and Applications Department (DNPSA), an innovation in Furlan's structure that brings together representatives from various areas of the company.
Furlan professionals bring the different observations made by clients to DNPSA meetings. The Commercial area is part of the project, alongside the Industrial Foundry and the Industrial Equipment area.
The investment in this new body was close to R$150,000.00. It involved hours of work by the Engineering team, acquisition of molding boxes and a new model. Students from Unicamp also contributed to the development of the new body.
Technologies were used. The ALTAIR finite element simulation software verified the resistance of the product by simulating the workpiece. The MAGMA part feeding simulation software monitored the casting process on the computer, which is important to ensure the metallurgical soundness of the part.
The technology used demonstrates another focus of Furlan in projects of this type: always evolving. In the final assessment, the Furlan team points out that, with the new body, the JC 1300 remains robust, but with less weight.
Reducing weight represents countless benefits, such as a lower risk of equipment breakdown, causing downtime which, as we always say here on the blog, is the main “ghost” of mining.
If we think about one of the main stages of the design of a new crusher, which is the transportation from the supplier's industrial unit to the deposit, there is also a significant reduction in risks.
The JC 1300 jaw crusher in operation
Even with the new part, the equipment's intended application has not changed: it should be used in the primary phase to process minerals that are raw materials in the industrial sector, aggregates for construction or in agribusiness.
The JC model 1300 is one of the most sought-after Furlan products on the market, due to its production efficiency and easy maintenance. It can also be integrated into a complete plant project, another Furlan specialty.
The company, one of the leaders in the mining equipment and parts market, prepared a video showing the JC operating with the new casing.
