Improvements to the British Conical: Power and Efficiency

Therefore, Furlan employed, in addition to its expertise, eight months of studies to consolidate the improvements, focusing on the use of power, technology and efficiency.

This is where the CC XT line came from, which stands for “extra ton”. There is a gain of almost 30% in capacity, as in the case of the CC 1400 XT model, which generates up to 635 tons/hour of product, with extra thick coating.

The CC XT line generates improved results through a technical change: increasing the rotation of the machine's drive shaft. At the same time, Furlan's New Products, Services and Applications Department (DNPSA) saw an opportunity to improve the equipment.

This equipment fits into another major mining trend: Industry 4.0 practices. Simulation software, such as Finite Element Simulation, was used, which makes decisions regarding proposed improvements more reliable, including the granulometry of the final products.

The CC XT Cone Crusher is compact and versatile, operating in fixed, mobile or restricted height plants. The advancement also results from better interaction between the operator and the equipment, such as by monitoring lining wear more assertively.

The machine's aperture adjustment control (APF) by digital gauge displays and at the same time memorizes the graduation. This indicates the wear condition of the liners and facilitates programming for replacement.

The risk prevention instruments for the operator and the equipment have also been improved. Adjustment is carried out using a hydraulic motor for opening adjustments (APF) with safety locking. The bearing placement system has been improved. An automatic hydraulic accumulator protects the crusher against possible overloads caused by uncrushable materials.

In case of failures, the HMI instrumentation panel indicates where the problem is. The issue indicates possible power supply problems in the equipment that can generate fluctuations in lubrication or current spikes in the electrical energy.

In general, there are seven types of casual crushing configurations available, ranging from extra coarse to extra fine, and replacing the liners is simple.

It is worth mentioning that some components of the equipment are wear-resistant manganese steel parts cast by Furlan, which guarantees excellent shape quality of the crushed product.

Stored data, faster maintenance

The equipment is equipped with a new PLC (Programmable Logic Control) system programming, standardized to date in Portuguese and English. Thus, automatic temperature controls were added to the cylindrical bushing of the eccentric housing; the pressure and temperature of the fluid oil and non-return of this oil; the motor current; and saturation indicators in the oil and air filters.

This data helps with operations and maintenance. And we know that decisions based on data are more reliable, both in daily operations and during scheduled shutdowns.

Unexpected maintenance can be caused by increased vibration; the system stores information from this diagnosis, speeding up the return to production. Cleaning the cavity in unexpected situations is also quick, as the system is generally quieter, generates less dust and vibrates less. Lower vibration increases the useful life of the equipment and coatings.

The crusher uses an automatic hydraulic upper casing locking system and features a safety alarm and locking system interconnected with the hydraulic control and lubrication system to ensure correct operation, in accordance with NR 12.
