Vibrating screens: 3 decisive factors for the best choice

Vibrating screens play an important role in mining. They classify and separate rocks according to the specifications determined by the customer.

In this article, we will discuss 3 of the main decisive factors that should guide a company's decision regarding screens. We will also show how Máquinas Furlan, with 60 years of experience in the market, is ready to provide the best equipment for this stage of mineral processing.

This article will present two lines of Furlan sieves: PVA and PVM.

What is screening in mining

When we talk about mining, we are basically talking about a process that involves steps such as crushing, grinding and screening. In the screening phase, mining companies look for equipment that has three attributes when we talk about classifying and separating minerals.

. Practicality;

. Excellence;

. and Efficiency.

Working conditions in the mines are rigorous. Therefore, the installation, adjustment and operation of equipment must be guided by practicality. Excellence, in turn, gains strength both in the design, ensuring durability and productivity, and in the routine of tasks.

Finally, the mining company relies on the reliability that comes from the classification and separation of materials, so that it can send its customers the product within the promised standards.

Screens must have capacity and efficiency. Companies look for machines with simple maintenance. Unscheduled downtime compromise productivity.

Automation is another trend in the segment. It generates, for example, reliable numbers to analyze work performance.

In short, the ideal screening system allows for the simple classification and separation of minerals. Material that is in good condition moves on. Rocks that do not meet the standards will be processed again.

Sieves with high durability and resistance

Now, let's talk about Vibrating Screens (PVA) and Modular Screens (PVM), known for their versatility. In both lines, the structure of the equipment – made of carbon steel and mounted on special steel springs – guarantees high durability and resistance.

The operator quickly adjusts the amplitude, which uses fan-type counterweights. The drive systems are easy to maintain.

And here's a maintenance tip: on the sieves, pay special attention to gears, bearings, shafts and belts.

The best performance results from the direct transmission of the drive via a cardan shaft, ensuring that the engine is free from vibration. An efficient grease lubrication system prevents the machine from being damaged when exposed to dust.

Uniform distribution of material on the feed tray increases efficiency. Self-aligning roller bearings ensure perfect operation and durability.

Steel rulers fixed to the sides make it easy to change the screens. The two lines provide intermediate and final classification.

Typically, these models screen minerals in general, sand and gravel, although they can be adapted to other applications. In the final classification, the minimum recommended mesh size is 8 mesh.

The PVA line, specifically, features 6 models, with variations in screen size and number of decks – between 1 and 4. They are recommended for both the washing and intermediate classification process and for final classification.

PVA has optional features, such as steel, rubber or polyurethane screens; spray washing system; discharge nozzles; metal base and platform; and sieve cover. It can also come with rubber screen.

Modular models (PVM) can come in the traditional format, with just one level of inclination, or in the “banana” configuration – with several levels of inclination in the deck frame.

The PVMs operate at different inclinations and amplitudes between modules, increasing screening efficiency. It also allows for more types of classified products. The electric drive assembly is independent between modules.

The sieve can be placed on a concrete or metal base. There are 3 modular models, with 2 or 3 decks.

Sieves follow NR 12

Máquinas Furlan has been in business for 60 years. Its catalog includes more than 150 items, including screens and other equipment. All of them strictly follow the provisions set forth in NR 12.

Our team is also prepared to help with the BNDES issue, which offers financing under special conditions for the acquisition of equipment for mining and aggregate production.

It is also able to present how the supply of wear and replacement parts for machines, including screens, works.
