Understand the impact of companies' relationships with the community

Máquinas Furlan and its relationship with the community in 2023

Throughout 2023, Máquinas Furlan carried out 26 actions involving the community of Limeira, a city in the State of São Paulo where its factory is located.

This work reinforces the social commitment and respect for the values ​​promoted by its founder, Geraldo Furlan. Even before this relationship was considered “fundamental”, Furlan already had a social focus on the community as one of its strategic concepts.

Furlan is one of the world leaders in the supply of machinery and castings for the mining industry. In 2023, internal campaigns involving all employees were promoted. Among these are the “Clothing Drive”, collection of aluminum can tabs and collection of “medicine blisters”.

The Internal Week for the Prevention of Accidents at Work (SIPAT) has expanded its objectives. Improved, it combined safe work with a campaign to vaccinate employees against the flu.

The company maintained its support for professional training, promoted by Geraldo, who left us in 2016. One of these came from the partnership with the Faculty of Applied Sciences (FCA), at Unicamp. The FCA campus is in Limeira.

The action allowed Furlan to assist students in preparing their Final Course Projects. The application of the content learned, with a strong incentive for research, occurred through experiments carried out at the company.

Furlan also granted nearly 7 internship scholarships to undergraduate students from colleges in Limeira, helping to educate these students. Some of them were hired and became Furlan employees.

Entrepreneurship, a “better Christmas”: other areas of activity

GAVIA received a donation of panettones for Christmas dinner. With 29 years of activity, the Group of Friends for the Valorization of Childhood and Adolescence (GAVIA) develops projects for social inclusion and improving the quality of life of children and adolescents between 6 and 15 years of age. The 130 people served by the Group come from families in situations of social vulnerability.

Furlan also encourages the registration of Apprentices at the SENAI school, contributing to the training of 12 professionals who will be used in the job market.

It also resumed its partnership with the “Patrulheiros” of Limeira, granting internships to 4 students from that institution, now known as CAMPL.

Furlan also contributed to the “Entrepreneurs of the Future”, a program aimed at students from public schools who are encouraged to be entrepreneurs. This program is developed in the city by the Limeira Development Institute (Ideli). Furlan supported the “Limeirense Business Day”, an event organized by the Limeira Commercial and Industrial Association (ACIL) that highlights entrepreneurship.

The 1st Corrida da República benefited different audiences – it raised funds for the João Kühl Filho Asylum and, at the same time, encouraged healthy practices such as street running and walking.

Furlan's “End of Year Party” took place at the APAE in Limeira, benefiting those assisted by that entity. The company also contributed to AINDA, ALICC, ARIL, Sociedade Rui Barbosa and Associação Prudente de Moraes – prominent entities in Limeira society.

Through donations and sponsorships, Furlan participated in the completion of the facilities of the Santa Bakhita Parish Community; and in the celebration of the 110th anniversary of the Associação Atlética Internacional, a team from the city that is part of the main division of professional football in São Paulo.

The extensive list of practices shows Furlan connected to the social initiatives that take place in its community, actions that contribute to a better world.
