SIPAT 2024: “taking care of your financial health also means practicing security”

Last week, Máquinas Furlan held its Internal Workplace Accident Prevention Week (SIPAT). This year, one of the focuses of the event was taking care of employees' financial health.
The slogan chosen was: “Taking care of your financial health means practicing security”. The choice expanded the results of the week, which took place between September 16th and 20th.
In addition to the lectures, there were interactive activities, such as vision tests, a Q&A session on the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and tips on nutrition. Professionals from different areas of Furlan, including Production and Administration, participated in the activities.
Financial health and its impacts on work
The SIPAT organizing committee explained that the slogan took into account the fact that, in recent years, there have been many doubts about the financial life related to the Human Resources sector. Corporate responsibility fits into this choice. In this format, the company is concerned, in a comprehensive way, with the employee.
"When we are in debt or don't know how to manage our financial budget, our minds focus on the problem, and that's when accidents can happen. Initiating the issue within SIPAT is planting the seed that taking care of our financial health also means ensuring safety at work," the organizers said.
Financial well-being brings good results. “Better control of finances reduces stress, improves mental health, increases overall well-being and brings greater focus at work,” they explain.
The financial issue added value to the event, going beyond the topics commonly discussed. "Mental health will always be addressed, after all, everything starts with a healthy mind to have security in any area of our lives. At the same time, we addressed operational issues, such as hearing, respiratory and visual safety, cargo delivery, first aid and financial education", the committee reported.
At the end, the issue of security was addressed in a stand-up comedy. “In this way, we showed that security is not comedy,” the organization emphasized.
Company Operations and Accident Prevention Week
SIPAT is connected to the company’s operations. “SIPAT is the result of mapping the main risks and issues that we experience in Furlan’s day-to-day activities. We involve employees in fun activities and lectures, planning schedules with managers so that production is not compromised. In this way, we constantly promote a culture of safety, which directly impacts the company’s productivity and overall indicators,” the organization emphasizes.
Accident prevention is one of the company's recent investments. "The vast majority of investments are geared toward safety, with technology and automation, a focus on safety and mental health training and development, among others," the organizers said.
However, Furlan knows that safety culture is an intense task. "The Weekly Safety Dialogues (DSSs) held by Furlan's leaders will be increasingly intensified. Our safety team is increasingly present in the areas, showing existing opportunities for improvement and adapting PPE to the needs of employees," he says.
The Internal Accident Prevention Committee (CIPA) contributes both with suggestions and in monitoring improvement processes.
CEO Valter Furlan: “develop a safe and motivated team”
The company's CEO, Valter Zutin Furlan, highlighted that the priority is always the safety and well-being of employees. "We combine accident prevention with essential issues, such as mental health and financial health. In this way, we contribute to a healthier and more productive work environment," says Valter.
According to him, "it is our duty as a company to take full care of our partners, ensuring that everyone is well not only physically, but also emotionally and financially. SIPAT's actions are aligned with our values, and are fundamental to the development of a safe and motivated team."
In meetings with employees, Valter reinforced: "taking care of yourself also means taking care of others and the future of our company. Together, we strengthen our commitment to a safer and healthier Furlan."
